Procedures for Dissertation and Thesis Defenses
1) Procedures for REQUESTING THE COMPOSITION OF THE EXAMINING COMMITTEE for Dissertation/Thesis Defense
1.1) Via the ProPGWeb System (Defenses scheduled for dates after February 21, 2026)
The request for the composition of the dissertation/thesis examining committee must be initiated by the student through the ProPGWeb system at least 30 days before the planned defense date, following the video tutorials below:
a) Tutorial for the student – request for dissertation/thesis defense in ProPGWeb
b) Tutorial for the advisor – request for dissertation/thesis defense in ProPGWeb
c) Tutorial for examining committee members – dissertation/thesis defense in ProPGWeb
d)Available presentation modalities:

In-person

In-person with remote presentation (when at least one committee member participates online; the Google Meet link must be included).
Fully remote defenses are no longer permitted.
e) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE REQUEST (must be uploaded to ProPGWeb):

Dissertation or thesis (PDF).

Proof of submission of scientific article(s) (PDF) (see Administrative Act PPGFt No. 2 for detailed information on journal classification).
Note: In the ProPGWeb system, the visibility type for each uploaded document can be selected (visible to the examining committee or internal to the PPG only).
f) Attention:Before submitting the request for the advisor’s approval, check the information in the academic transcript and in the diploma verification form.
If any information is incorrect, save the request as a draft and send an email to the PPGFt indicating the data to be corrected. If you are a scholarship holder, check whether the final date of your scholarship funding period has been included in your academic record (request the inclusion of this information before submitting the defense request).
