The Postgraduate Program in Physical Therapy at the Federal University of São Carlos (PPGFT/UFSCar) focuses on “Physical Therapy and Functional Performance” and includes five lines of research. The program has a highly qualified faculty body with experience in advising, education, research and extension. PPGFT/UFSCar is recognized nationally and internationally for its qualified scientific production, excellence in training human resources, and impact on society. This recognition results from the qualified training of graduate students and the generation of scientific knowledge in the field of Physical Therapy.

The PPGFT/UFSCar is the pioneer in creating a Master’s and Ph.D. program in Physical Therapy in Brazil. The Master’s program was created on November 18, 1996, and was recommended on December 19 of the same year by CAPES. The Ph.D. program was recommended on December 12, 2001. In 2009, the Program obtained a score of 6 in the CAPES evaluation. From 2014 onwards, it was promoted by PROEX-CAPES, and, in 2017, it obtained the maximum score (i.e., 7) in the CAPES evaluation.

Objective
The PPGFT/UFSCar has the general objective of training qualified human resources for teaching and research in the field of Physical Therapy, and developing high quality and clinically relevant research to contribute to evidence-based Physical Therapy.

Mission
The mission of the PPGFT/UFSCar is to become a center of excellence and international reference for research in the field of Physical Therapy, attracting researchers from Brazil and abroad to train qualified human resources, and establish collaborations and scientific exchanges.
