Self-assessment

The self-assessment of Graduate Programs (PPGs) is a relevant aspect that has been increasingly considered in the course evaluation process conducted by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). This self-assessment should be part of a broad and comprehensive process aimed at understanding the strengths and challenges faced by PPGs, supporting strategic planning and self-monitoring with the objective of promoting actions to improve program performance indicators.

In this context, the Graduate Program in Physiotherapy at the Federal University of São Carlos (PPGFt/UFSCar) has consistently sought to improve its indicators through the self-assessment process. During the 2017–2020 evaluation period, the Program developed its Self-Assessment Policy, and in the current evaluation period (2021–2024), the self-assessment process was effectively implemented. All relevant stakeholders participated in this process, including permanent faculty members, administrative staff, graduate students, and program alumni. The results obtained indicated necessary actions to enhance student training and work processes, aiming to increase academic output and, most importantly, the dissemination of the knowledge produced. These findings were extensively discussed by the Program community and resulted in a revision of the PPGFt/UFSCar Strategic Planning and in organizational changes for the next evaluation period (2025–2028), including modifications to the evaluation process itself (meta-evaluation).
