Animal Facility
Coordination: Department of Physiotherapy (DFisio) Coordination
Description of Key Features: The Animal Facility of the Department of Physiotherapy (DFisio) is a multi-user facility that supports multiple laboratories within the department, including the Molecular Biology and Histology Laboratory, Neuroscience and Neurological Rehabilitation Laboratory, Neurological Physiotherapy Research Laboratory, Cardiopulmonary Research Laboratory, Joint Function Research Laboratory, Muscle Plasticity Laboratory, and the Electrothermophototherapy Resources Laboratory. It also serves other departments, such as the Department of Gerontology, Department of Physiological Sciences, and the Department of Medicine.
The facility complies with current regulations and standards. Renovations were carried out to improve the environment, including space modifications and the acquisition of essential equipment such as exhaust and air inflow systems, filtration units, and the installation of infrared lighting integrated with an automated system. These improvements enhanced both air quality and lighting conditions. The space is also equipped with an air conditioning unit that provides both heating and cooling.
This infrastructure supports rigorous scientific methodology in research involving rats and mice conducted by the Department of Physiotherapy and other departments at UFSCar.
