Functionality and Technological Innovation Group in Neurofunctional Physical Therapy (GFIT-Neuro)

Group coordinator: Natalia Duarte Pereira, Ph.D.

The GFIT-Neuro conducts studies in the research line “Basic Processes, Development, and Functional Recovery of the Nervous System” of the PPGFT/UFSCar. The research projects are related to physical therapy evaluation and intervention in adults with neurological injuries. Specifically, we investigate intensive approaches (e.g., constraint-induced therapy for upper and lower extremities) and technological resources (e.g., orthosis, prosthesis, and mobile applications).

National and international collaborations: Nuleme and Ladecom, University of Santa Catarina; and Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy Research Group, University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA.

Infrastructure: studies developed by GFIT-Neuro use the DFisio/UFSCar infrastructure and are conducted at the Movement Analysis Center (NAM), Isokinetic Dynamometry Laboratory, and Shoulder Complex Evaluation and Intervention Laboratory.
