Multidisciplinary Research in Older Adults’ Health Laboratory (LaPeSI)

Lab coordinators: Anielle Cristhine de Medeiros Takahashi, Ph.D. and Larissa Pires de Andrade, Ph.D.

The LaPeSI aims to investigate physical therapy evaluation and intervention in older adults. Research projects involve healthy, frail, cognitively impaired older adults, and caregivers. We also perform functional, physical, and cognitive assessments. Research projects are funded by FAPESP and CNPq. The lab has received students from Benin and Chile and collaborates with researchers from international universities and laboratories (i.e., Universitá degli Studi di Milano, Universitat Ramon Llull, and the Falls, Balance and Injury Research Center at Neuroscience Research Australia [NeuRA]). In Brazil, the lab collaborates with the Faculdade de Medicina de Riberirão Preto (FMRP-USP).

Infrastructure: LaPeSI has air-conditioned rooms for cognitive and physical assessments, actigraphs, heart rate monitors, electrocardiographs, hand-held dynamometers, and other types of equipment.
