Ultrasound Laboratory
Coordinator: Stela Marcia Mattiello, Ph.D.
Description of Key Features: The Shared Ultrasound Laboratory is equipped with an ACUSON Sequoia ultrasound system (2.5 and lower) – Siemens Healthcare Diagnósticos Ltda, acquired through FAPESP's Multi-user Equipment Grant. The system provides high-resolution 3D imaging and includes four transducers: two convex and two linear.
The convex transducers enable imaging of deeper organs with different frequency settings. The linear transducers are suitable for evaluating smaller and more superficial structures, including the musculoskeletal system. This ultrasound system is capable of imaging obese patients, providing high-resolution images at depths of up to 55 cm.
In addition, the equipment includes Shear Wave Elastography, which allows for tissue stiffness assessment, and AutoDoppler, which enables evaluation of organ blood flow. These features make the system suitable for use by professionals from various healthcare fields.
